What’s the difference between a MUD and LID?

October 31, 2017

A Municipal Utility District (MUD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas authorized by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to provide water, sewage, drainage and other utility-related services within the MUD boundaries. Some MUDs also maintain levees.

MUDs are governed by an elected Board of Directors. LIDs are governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Commissioner’s Court.
