Emergency Management Coordinator
Chief Flathouse served for eight years in the United States Coast Guard and over twelve years as a Firefighter/ Peace Officer and Emergency Management Coordinator.
He holds a Master of Criminal Justice Management and Leadership from Sam Houston State University, a Bachelor of Emergency Management Administration graduating Cum Laude from West Texas A&M, and an Associate of Fire Protection Technology from Austin Community College.
Chief Flathouse currently holds Master Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, and Arson Investigator certifications from the State of Texas; Master Peace Officer TCLOSE certification; and Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) and Executive Fire Officers (EFO) certifications from the National Fire Academy/FEMA in Maryland.
Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator
Alan currently serves as the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the past 13 years. Prior to joining the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Alan spent 31 years with the Texas Department of Public Safety and rose to the rank of Highway Patrol Lieutenant with Texas DPS in Pierce. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from St. Edwards University in Austin and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in Chicago.
Interim – Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator
Greg was promoted into the Assistant Deputy Role from the Fort Bend County Emergency Management Specialist I – Exercise and Training position. Prior to joining the Office Of Homeland Security and Emergency Management , Greg served 24 years in the United States Coast Guard promoting to Chief Warrant Officer Level in the Roles of Surf Rescue Coxswain, Federal Law Enforcement Officer, Tactical Deployment Team Lead, Maritime Security Response Team West, and part of the National Incident Management Deployment Team. Greg is a licensed instructor and holds Type I and II levels of certifications in various roles of command leadership in the Incident Command System Structure.
Public Information Officer / Project Manager
Mary oversees our major projects for the office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as well as handling some of our Public Information. She was previously the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds Manager for the past 7 years and prior to that she was with Texas AgriLife Extension in Fort Bend County. Mary has a total of 19 years with Fort Bend County. She earned her Bachelor Degree from Sam Houston State University.
Deputy Chief – Planning
Rodney oversees day to day planning activities of the office. Prior to joining the Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, Grimmer, served nine years with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. During his time there, he worked as a Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant. Deputy Chief Grimmer is a licensed Instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer Certification through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University.
Disaster Recovery Manager
Rachel manages Fort Bend County’s Recovery & Mitigation projects and programs. She coordinates her efforts with local community partners.
