USACE Lake Somerville Dam Tour

March 24, 2022

Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have extended an invitation for Fort Bend County levee officials to tour the Lake Somerville Dam on Friday, April 22nd.  The Lake Somerville Dam was constructed in the 1960’s and is our most immediate upstream USACE reservoir within the Brazos River watershed providing over 300,000 acre feet of flood control storage.  The tour will give us an opportunity to see, first-hand, the critical components of a large scale lake/dam system and to learn more about their USACE day-to-day and flood fight operations.

DATE:
Friday, April 22, 2022 – (10:00am – 1:00pm)

LOCATION:

USACE Somerville Lake Dam Office
1560 Thornberry Dr.
Somerville, TX 77879

Note:
Travel is 2 hours each way for a total round trip of 4 hours of driving time.  Travel is on your own but a car pool option can be accomplished if enough of the group would like to take that option.
