Fort Bend Recovers…with Creativity is inviting you to the Harvey Experience!

July 16, 2018

The Harvey Experience is an anniversary event that will showcase original creative works created by residents of Fort Bend County who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  The Harvey Experience is scheduled for August 25, 2018 from 12-2pm at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.  The event is free to attend!

If you are a resident of Fort Bend County, we invite you to express how Harvey impacted you through a poem, a story, a song, a quilt, a painting, a photo, or other creative means.  Creative works can express suffering or despair, anger, happiness, hope, or resilience.  Expressing your experiences may help you and those who view your art better cope with the damage that Harvey left behind.   All ages are welcome to submit!  Works must be submitted by August 1, 2018. 

These works of art will showcase a piece of Fort Bend County history for generations to come.

Volunteers are Needed!

Help make Fort Bend County residents safer by joining the American Red Cross, Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Police Department, Rosenberg Fire Department, and Rosenberg Police Department in completing their goal to install smoke alarms across at-risk areas in the County.

  • Starting at 9:00 am

Additional Information

  • Some equipment is needed.  If you are able, please bring a drill/electric screwdriver and a step stool 
  • Some of the areas are heavily Spanish speaking.  Spanish speaking volunteers would be greatly appreciated.

SKYWARNTM is a training program sponsored by the Houston-Galveston National Weather Service Office in conjunction with Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management and City of Sugar Land.

SKYWARNTM Volunteers are trained to watch the skies during severe weather then relay reports back to the local Emergency Management Office and/or the Houston-Galveston National Weather Service (NWS) Office. These volunteers provide valuable information to the NWS to improve the warning program which could save lives and prevent property damage in your community.

SKYWARNTM TRAINING IS FOR EVERYONE

Fort Bend County Hosted DataWing Flight Academy for Drone Pilots – Jan 8-12

December 7, 2017

Fort Bend County will be hosting a Data Wing Flight Academy class at a discounted rate of $1200 per participant. This discount is being made available for public-safety organizations wishing to get their sUAS Pilot’s License form the FAA. This class will teach you everything you need to know to pass the test, and is structured around getting you through the FAA flight center with a completed (and passed!) test and provisional pilot’s license.

The class will be held on January 8-12, 2018 at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. Class will be from 0800-1700 each day, and includes trips out to the FAA testing center on Friday for testing and provisional licensing. After you pass this test you will receive your official FAA Pilot’s license in the mail within a few weeks.

This class is capped at 8 participants, and is first-come, first-served. The first eight registrants with completed Credit Card Processing forms  forms will have a guaranteed seat in the class.

    Flight Practice

Already have your license?

Join us on some Thursdays at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds for sUAS flight testing and practice.
