  • Until 400 PM CDT.
  • At 328 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Sealy, is almost stationary or moving east at 5 mph. Pea size hail has been reported by Emergency Management with this storm.

Locations impacted include… Sealy, Brookshire, Wallis, Fulshear, Simonton, San Felipe, Orchard and Weston Lakes.

  • Tornado Warning for… Southeastern Fort Bend County in southeastern Texas… Southwestern Brazoria County in southeastern Texas…
  • Until 245 PM CDT.
  • At 222 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near West Columbia, moving southeast at 20 mph.
  • This dangerous storm will be near… West Columbia around 235 PM CDT. Brazoria, Holiday Lakes, Bailey’s Prairie and Wild Peach Village around 245 PM CDT.

• Flash Flood Warning for… Northeastern Wharton County in southeastern Texas… Southwestern Fort Bend County in southeastern Texas…
• Until 215 PM CDT.
• At 1248 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. 3 to 4 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
• Some locations that will experience flooding include… Southwestern Rosenberg, Wharton, East Bernard, Beasley, Kendleton, Egypt and Hungerford.

McHard Road Oil Well Incident – Update 2 – Dec 7, 2017

Yesterday evening The City of Houston and Fort Bend County HAZMAT units, Missouri City Fire Department, and Fresno Fire Department responded to an incident at an oil well near the Fort Bend County Tollway and McHard Road. According to initial reports, an incident at an oil well caused petroleum-like odor.

Winds carried the smell across a large portion of the area; it is believed that the smell was from hydrogen sulfide.  Total Fire has been conducting air monitoring in the area and has been unable to detect significant amounts of the chemical in the air.

Wild Well Control is responding and should have the well capped by this evening.

Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have a life-threatening emergency.

If the situation requires additional updates will be provided at fbcoem.org.

McHard Road Oil Well Incident – Update 1 – Dec 6, 2017

The City of Houston and Fort Bend County are responding to an incident at an oil well near the Fort Bend County Tollway and McHard Road in southwest Houston. According to initial reports, an incident at an oil well is causing a petroleum-like odor. Winds may carry the smell across a large portion of the area, however, the situation has stabilized, and there is no immediate threat to the public at this time. 

The smell may be overwhelming for some individuals. Residents who are sensitive to the odor should remain indoors.

Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have a life-threatening emergency.

If the situation requires additional updates will be provided at houstonemergency.org and fbcoem.org.
